Welcome to the Gartner Communications Leadership Council’s 2019 Resource Allocation Benchmarking Survey. The resultant Benchmarking Report will provide a comprehensive analysis of Communications budgets and staff allocations to help communicators defend their budgets, make a business case for more resources, and identify specific areas for resource reallocation.
All survey participants will receive a customized report detailing how their staff and budget allocations compare to similar organizations. Gartner clients will also receive (1) a copy of the 2019 Resource Allocation Benchmarking Report, which breaks down all survey respondents’ budget and spend allocations across the entirety of the function’s responsibilities, and (2) access to our online interactive

This survey consists of three primary sections comprising the following types of questions:
I. Organizational and demographic information
: Your organization, its annual revenues, employees, and the structure of your Communications function.
II. Total budget and headcount information: Total Communications budget (salary, non-salary, and vendor spend) and headcounts, including estimated changes for the coming fiscal year.
III. Budget allocation: Non-salary budget allocation, vendor costs, and amount of time spent by staff members on these activities:
